I have a Cape Dory 25d at ST. John's river in Jacksonville. I would like to move the boat closer to the Ocean. My first option would be St. Augustine. Another would be Fernandina. I would like some advice in regards of easier place to sail, easier inlet etc.
Thanks
Ben
We have Sailnet friends who have gone south for the winter and are right now in St Augustine. Maybe you could contact them. Her SN screename is Wingnwing.
Hey Ben, I sail out of Julington Creek. There is a nice stretch of the St Johns between NAS and Green Cove Springs. However, I am also interested in moving to St. Augustine for achange in scenery.
I wanted to contact you individually but the rules are that I need 15 posts before I can do that. In the meantime is anybody interested on being the skipper in my boat and show me the local St. Augustine waters including the inlet? Do you know anybody who would be willing to do this ? I would be willing to compensate for this.
Thanks
If somebody is interested in calling me to discuss the St Augustine inlet please do so . My cell is 904-200 8209
Ben
Previously had a boat on the St Johns at Julington Creek, and now have a boat at the city marina in Saint Augustine. I would be happy to sail with you, no compensation required. PM me.
Ben, St Aug is really a fun town, lots to do. (Although, perhaps not as much sailing as we'd wish) Inlet's not bad if you follow the marks. If you're going to be docking at a marina, advise you to time it for slack tide - unless you're intending to provide the day's docking drama entertainment for the rest of us . The current can rip through here at 3 or 4 knots at maximum.
Dino, we're at the city marina also, we probably know each other but just don't know it...
Long-term slips are $15/ft/month for liveaboards. I *think* moorings are around $300/month. (We'll find out, because we'll probably move out to a mooring come spring.)
Hey guys, just found this through the Cruiser's Forum thread. I will try to make it out on Sunday as long as the boat work doesn't drag into the evening
Hi everyone. Thanks Beersmith for referring me to this thread. I just made a lengthy post on cruisers forum.com about anchoring in st. augustine and the city marina, etc... and Beersmith said to check out this thread here on sailnet.
I would be happy to get together this weekend with other sailors and cruisers! I've never been to this place, so Ill have to look it up and find out where it is.
Busy committing genocide against multiple species of mold in the v-berth ... by the time 5 PM rolls around I'll be more than ready for a beer with you all!
Milltop is closed! Were moving the get together to the tavern of the rooster. Its one little block south of milltop on st. George st. Call 41321093twothree if u cant find it.
