Mysterious Storage Area!

Hi. I have an '81 22 foot. See attached photos...I hope I uploaded them correctly. Under the V berth cushions, there is a wooden cover for a storage compartment, and upon closer inspection there is a hole in the bottom. Any thoughts?

Re: Mysterious Storage Area!

Thanks, eherlihy. Why do you think a limber hole was required in that area? I suspect in drains to the small bilge just forward?

Re: Mysterious Storage Area!

The hole says that you don't store stuff in there that can be hurt by getting wet. They expect water to get in and that hole is to let it out. (into the bilge)

Re: Mysterious Storage Area!

looks like a place to put in some drinks and fill it with ice, then the hole just drains the water as the ice melts.

Yep, I see it as an ice box as well.
