Addenda .... galley looks too big for a VDS of that size though if she was owner build then they could have played fast and loose with the original layout. For their size VDS have relatively small galleys.

Caribbean is not a sail drive.

Thanks Andrew,

I have been told by RMS that it has had two names since being registered in Australia "ILKI" and "Tossie". The Ilki was probably from when she was in South Africa but I'm only guessing.
I have had comments that it could be a Bertie Reed design from one based around 1975 ish designs. Everything seems oversize.

I dont know where she was built but a friend of mine said that the Tiller onboard looked like a South Afrian wood I'll ask to see which type but I will also attach a pic of it in a sec.

My best guess is that coral reef masquerading as a sailboat is a Baltic 39 or 42, with the 42DP being the more likely.

I like the Baltic idea, but she's rough looking.. not the 42DP though.. she had a distinctive high bridgedeck cockpit IIRC. And surely a Baltic would have a valid HIN??

"Tossie" is very much Afrikaans - Ilki not so much...
The boat looks like an Angelo Lavranos design - look at his 47' Compass. The bow and cabin profile looks very similar

Also look at the 41 foot Cape Vickers - lines look right...

On this one the hard dodger is exactly the same

Length 12.5 m
Beam 4 m
and she's equipped with a saildrive...

Do I get the Rum?

John, glad i could help.

I'm on the other side of the world, so rather than sending me a bottle, use it to toast your new baby.
The exitement and satisfaction of recognizing the lines of the boat as a Lavranos design and then finding it is more than plenty reward.

Lavranos definitely knows what he was doing - you will enjoy the boat.

Just dont call it "Tossie"... thats too close to what small afrikaans speaking boys' moms call their weewees... [emoji2]
