Return to sailing after 26 years and a PSC31

Well it looks as if we are going to be the owners of a 89' PSC 31. We just returned to sailing after many years away and are very excited! We actually acquired a Compac 23D last year and absolutely love her but we are also not 26 years younger, and though it was what we were used to then, it just isn't gunna work for any length of time with the two of us now. We live 3 hours from the boat and had talked about renting an apartment at our little marina but rent made little sense and putting the money into the larger boat now was our decision. So the 31 will be our "floataminium" while we sail and sell our 23d. That will give me time to address some projects on the 31 so hopefully by fall we will be a one boat family.

We have always known someday we would get a Pacific Seacraft and look forward to knowing many of you on this forum. Many regards.

OBTW we are in Topping, Va. on the Chesapeake, well the boats are anyway. We live on a small farm at the base of the Shenandoah National Park a few miles west of Charlottesville.

Great choice of a boat. I'm envious and jealous.

Hey Krisscross, thanks, we are excited. It is interesting you would be the first reply as we just drug out an old LP by Christopher Cross to listen to a song "Sailing" we used to play while dreaming about sailing. Where in NC are you located?

I live near Greensboro but when I sail my bigger boat I sail out of Whortonsville near Oriental.

Been there before many years ago! What is your larger boat? I assume it is a PSC?

Any folks up on the Chesapeake, especially the Rappahannock? It looks as though we will be the only PSC in our marina. Heard here was a Dana there not long ago. Looking forward to meeting others in our area!

Only 26 years? It took me 51 years to get back.

Nice design from a quality builder. And, they just 'look right'...

You might want to also do a search for owners' groups on the web -- best place for construction trivia and model-specific suggestions.

Thanks guys! Is this not a PSC focused group?!

We have been very impressed with the availability and willingness of the PSC company to give info, suggestions, and general support in our search and acquisition. It helped push us over the edge into saying lets do it!. The Compac 23D we currently have, and is now up for adoption, has a similar kinda of company behind them, still family owned and operated for over 50 years. Wish we could keep both!

We will be moving Interlude from Annapolis to her new home in Topping very soon. Let's hope for 2-3 days of NW winds 10-15 knots. Not too much to wish for with summer conditions on the bay is it. Might just find out how well that Yanmar works if the usual SW light and variable stuff summer is famous for occurs.

You are correct, this is a PSC forum you've posted in, but most folks (myself included) just use the 'active topics' page and don't always (ever) notice what forum the topic was posted in, just that it's new.

Enjoy your new-to-you boat, PSC make the best boats, and I'm hardly biased. ;^)

As far as I know, this is the most active PSC forum. There is a PSC usergroup, but it's not been very active recently. Lot's of good information here, and lots of helpful PSC owners too.
