What size deck fill O ring for 80's Crealock 34?

All,

Looking for an O ring for my water fill on a 85 Crealock 34. I'm having difficulty finding the right size as the one that broke is missing a chunk and I can't measure it. I don't want to remove one of the other one's if I can figure it out here.

Anyone know the size for the deck fill O ring? It looks like it is close to 1 11/16 OD x 1 7/16 ID x 16, but I can't tell for sure. Love to figure this out before it rains.

Thanks,

Shrimp

In case anyone's ever asking the same question, it appears to be a 1 1/2 x 1 3/8 x 1/16 #56 O ring.

Assuming the deck fills on the 1980 C34 are the same as the C37, I found a source at: allorings.com. The p/n I used was B1000-029 for BUNA-N O-rings. The bad news is the minimum order quantity was 100 pieces (a lifetime supply for me). The good new is I think the total was $10 or $15. This was at least 15 years ago so YMMV. You can request a quote on their website.

Just saw this thread - and am away from the boat at the moment, so I don't have the specs - but I found the O-rings I use at a local mom & pop hardware store. I bought a dozen for around $3, if memory serves. However, I was able to take an old one with me to match sizes.

Hardware or local hydraulic hose shop. GOOGLE Parker hydraulics. All towns of any size have a hydraulics shop, they are not too protective of dealing with the public like some wholesalers.Take the cap with you and match it up.

Don't measure the O-ring !!!!!! They deform (shrink or 'swell' - that can easily change the ID/OD /'thickness') over time when under pressure and chemical contact.

Measure the ID of where the O-ring fits into the removable deck plate cap; then, measure the OD of the groove where the O-ring comes in contact with the non-removable deck fill. Use a 'caliper' if you have one to measure.
Subtract the measured ID from the measured OD .... then divide the result by two to get the approximate 'thickness' of the O-ring to the 'nearest' 1/32".

If you have any suspicions that the fuel delivery may contains 're-claimed' so-called bio-fuels (can be quite common in times of high fuel prices), then consider to install a VITON™ O-ring. Viton™ (expensive!!) is chemically compatible with the very aggressive 'acids' that contaminate bio-fuels; BUNA, Neoprene, etc. are not compatible, especially with fuel blends containing bio-fuels made from 're-claim'.

Consider the 'softness' (durometer) of the O-ring. 70-durometer is standard; the 'softer' 50-durometer seals better but needs to be replaced more often.

Here's a detailed listing for conversion of sizes (inches) to 'standard' O-ring SIZE & thickness designations. http://catalog.precisionassoc.com/as...ustrations.pdf ..... you start with thickness, then ID/OD.

'Grainger' and other online industrial supply sources have these O-rings; so does Amazon, eBay, etc.
