Pacific Seacraft 31

I've been monitoring the for sale ads for PS 31's for a little over a year now and have noticed that for the most part only a few 1987-1990 models and a few 2005, 2006 models have been on the market. Was there a production gap between 1990 and 2005? ...or very few produced during those years? ... or are people just loving their boats and not selling? Anyone have any idea what production numbers are for each year? Thanks, JDJ

Re: Pacific Seacraft 31

Pacific Seacraft was made in Southern California ( Fullerton, if my memory is correct) until sometime around then, a dockmate had a 2001 made there and shortly thereafter the rights and molds went to one of the Carolinas. The last I heard they were rebuilding their old boats.

Re: Pacific Seacraft 31

Boats around that age are still likely still under lien from their original financing. Owners are upside down. There's actually a shorter supply of pretty much any boat in that age range, especially the higher dollar ones, for this reason. As the loans are paid down and the price can reflect the actual residual vale, more boats hit the market. PSC is a expensive builder of traditional designs. They don't build in volume. Yes, they are still making new boats, but I doubt the sort of buyer who'd spend something approaching $350,000 on a 31 footer is going to be casually selling at such a loss.
