PSC 34 Great Lakes

Hi all, first time poster.

I am currently sailing an Aloha 27 out of Oakville, ON (suburb of
Toronto). I am looking for something a little bigger, and a
little "bluer" (water that is). I have been admiring the PSC 34
from a far, and think it might the ticket, but I have yet to see
one "in the wild". My need is for a bluewater boat, suitable for
shorthanded sailing (much of it single handed), cruising grounds
are initially, Caribbean, then Pacific and ultimately Japan.

Are any of you located on the eastern Great Lakes (Huron, Erie,
Ontario), and would be prepared to spend some time showing me the
pros and cons? I don't mind driving 5-6+ hours, or if its Lake Ontario,
perhaps even sailing over to you!

Any other advice would be welcomed.

KDW,
After no response from others, our PSC 34 is located in Sturgeon Bay, WI (west side of Lake Michigan) if you're ever in the area.

Thanks Steve, I appreciate it. Perhaps I'll have to convince the admiral that a trip to Chicago or Milwaukee would be a good idea.

I have been out sailing for a few days and not on the board. I have a Crealock 34 in Cleveland if you want to have a look at her.

Re: PSC 34 Great Lakes

Thanks Bill. I have been offline as well last few days.

Cleveland is about 4.5 hours from here, so that would work well. I will message you directly to try and set something up.

Sounds good. You may need to increase your post count in order to be able to PM.

Re: PSC 34 Great Lakes

There used to be a PSC34 s/v Golden Sun for charter near Apostle Islands, Lake Superior. Our experiences on her, convinced us to buy a PSC37.

Re: PSC 34 Great Lakes

... sorry for the false lead, I just checked Superior Charters and see she is no longer in their fleet.... maybe they can tell you where she is Superior Charters & Yacht Sales :: Lake Superior Apostle Islands Sailing Charters and Yacht Sales

Here is a nice article about Lake Superior sailing in Sail Magazine from a few years back - that's Golden Sun https://www.sailmagazine.com/charter/superior-sailing-2

My boat, now renamed "Belle Voile," is the former "Golden Sun." I'm glad that you had a good experience aboard her. She's a great boat.

Prior to "Golden Sun," I believe that she was named "Tamar III." Until 2015, she spent all but one year on Superior. Early in her career, she made a passage to salt water and down to the Bahamas and back up to Superior (there's any entry somewhere in a log of comings and goings in the back of one of the sailing magazines from that era, but I can't find the link again).

Re: PSC 34 Great Lakes

Hi Malloc,
Just saw your post. We just moved our 34 to Bay City, Mi on Huron. Still working on getting it in the water - probably this week. If your still looking, let me know we could probably work out a time to do a tour.
