Re: Bob Perry's Carbon Cutters

How is the hull to deck join going to be done?

MedSailor

I have a sauna on my boat, therefore I win.

Re: Bob Perry's Carbon Cutters

Fully glassed/'carbonized' (what is the proper colloquial phrase when dealing with carbon fiber?) if I recall correctly.

Sean:
We say "bonded". There will be no hull to deck joint when we are done. It will be monocoque.

You might get a kick out of this video my pal Boomer made yesterday when we took a road trip to the yard.

[QUOTE=outbound;3596889]Bob are the tooling/molds going to be destroyed or stored?[/QUOTE

An additional question along the above question, if the client wanted to have additional boats made would he owe a royalty payment to the original designer (in this case Bob)? On one hand the client did pay for the design, molds, material and labor but on the other hand does payment for these items purchase intellectual endeavors of the designer? Maybe it is a negotiable item? Of course it is none of my business the financial arrangements between the designer (Bob) and the client, I was just curious about the business details in a full custom boat design. Maybe Bob can address this in general terms. I just have to win the mega lottery for this to be applicable to me.

Royalties: Yes, I get royalties for additional boats. Four are now sold. We will retain the tooling in hopes that more people will want this unique boat.

Re: Bob Perry's Carbon Cutters

There has never been a bowsprit quite like this one before. It is all carbon fiber.

Re: Bob Perry's Carbon Cutters

Thanks for the vid, Bob.

For some reason, that big transom-hung rudder sets the whole boat off for me.

Boxer:
Me too. It really does set the entire style for the boat. I owe that look to a lot of traditional boats and the work of Bill Atkin.
