I have a md6a and the transmission is slipping. It worked when I put the rebuilt engine in last year. But now won't stay in gear. Any suggestions and a mechanic or shop in the Vancouver, Canada area that is reliable?

Stem to Stern is the local dealer... About Us | Stem to Stern Mobile Marine Parts & Service

Parts are likely to be difficult to source and/or expensive, but as the dealer they should know. Can't help much with local mechanics as I do most of our own work and so far haven't had to call a pro (but we don't have Volvo power).

I suggest you ask around your marina about a mechanic.. someone who comes recommended would be a good place to start, but Stem to Stern can tell you if the parts or rebuild kits are actually available. You may end up looking for a used gear - an iffy proposition, IMO...
