This is a nice thought, but kinda defeats the whole point of an anchor, if you aren't using the best anchor to hold your boat when things get bad.
It would be much cheaper and safer to use a trip line to get out your fouled good anchor, rather than use one with inferior holding power when you need it most.
Except, like I said, my imitation Bruce does consistantly hold my boat, holding power and setting arent issues, possibly due in part to my boat being a low profile, fine lined 900 lb boat. Doesnt take much to hold her. I anchor quite a bit too, because I sail in narrow often rocky channels and I have no autopilot, so if I need to make some tea, grab a bite to eat, or take a leak, odds are I am anchoring.
So I get no benefit from buying a $300 anchor. The only people who benefit from that $300 anchor are the middle man, the anchor manufacturer and the government tarrifs on imported boat parts.
Not saying expensive anchors arent a good fit for lots of people, but it would be a waste of money for me.
