Question Gibson island to Salisbury

How long would it take to sail from Gibson Island to Salisbury in a J24 with a west wind blowing 10 to 14 ? How far up the river is Salisbury from Deal Island? Any low bridges on the Wicomico?

Re: Gibson island to Salisbury

That’s pretty daunting trip in a J24 but not impossible

72 miles down the open Bay , through the Hooper Straits, then 22 miles up the Wiacomico.
Wiacomico has two obstacles , the current at 1.5 knots and the cable ferry in Whitehaven. You must contact the ferry captain to drop the cables to proceed though.

Lots of bugs and biting flies on the Wiacomico.

As far a how long it takes. Suggest you get Navionics and figure that yourself. You won’t be sailing up the Wiacomico...you will be motoring.

Why on a J24? That sounds..... painful.
