Re: tanzer 25

Solid glass in that area? Keel bolts through structural framing of any kind?

You T25 owners see this often?

The hull is solid glass everywhere. Some photos here: Akoni Sailing and Hiking

You guys who wet sand everthing for racing does the iron keel on those fair up easy or need major grinding to make it race ready?

Any iron keel needs major grinding, one time down to white metal. After covering with five coats of epoxy, and fairing ...you can wet sand the result all you want. Bottom painnt as desired or not.

Re: tanzer 25

What I'm trying to ascertain is the quaility and fairness of the original casting.

Barring rust and/or pitting that might be found on a neglected iron keel, was the original foil shape accurate enough so that fairing was a simple job of appling product and sanding fair or did the iron itself have high or low spots or rippples and various types of other imperfections that needed to be ground out or filled?

Re: tanzer 25

I did not template my keel, but in general, it had no weird spots on it requiring more than messing with a straight edge and some light filler. Grinding was not necessary to get it fair.
