Where to leave the boat in NE

We are planning to bring the boat from the Chesapeake Bay up to New England, leave the boat at a convenient marina, then drive back two weeks later to go cruising. What would be a convenient marina (wont break the bank, easy drive)?
I was looking at Brewers in Mystic. Any recommendations? I would think Newport would be $$$. Plan for June timeframe.

Check out Wickford Marina in Wickford RI . . . It is in Naragansette bay across from Newport, but much less money, beautiful spot and village, I winter there, see their website . . .

Re: Where to leave the boat in NE

Hey,

I like Brewers places but they are expensive. In the Mystic area I have stayed at Spicers Marina Home

Closer to Mystic is Mystic Shipyard West.
Mystic Shipyard | Mystic CT

Spicers is easier to get to, and pretty cheap. Mystic Shipyard is closer to the action and reasonable too.

Good luck,
Barry

New London is the least expensive in the area, several marinas are there. There is also an Amtrack train station located in town, good provisioning, etc, etc. Check it out online.

What's your draft? Do you mind a mooring?

New England runs from NYC to Maine. Where are you planning to sail/cruise?

Re: Where to leave the boat in NE

Look in ActiveCaptain for a marina that will accommodate you, in a place where you want to be. AC will have the number of transient slips and the phone number listed, as well as the draft requirements. Brewer's Marinas are great, but pricy (and they seem to be slowly taking over the North East USA).

I think that with the Amtrack service that New London/Groton CT would make your transportation easiest.

Pirate Cove in Portsmouth will be difficult to get to, unless you have a car/motorcycle with you.

As in a launch? Not at the place I was going to recommend for the price. There is dinghy storage. Plenty of options in Mystic or Stonington with a launch.
