Nice job! Did you draw the plans from scratch in CAD? BTW, I also have a Contest 36S, fractional rig. Mine is an 1986 model. Got her 2 years ago, keeping her on the upper Chesapeake. Name is s/v First Light....

Thanks Ralph... Yes I drew them from "scratch" using VectorWorks CAD. I got my '85 36s in 85 so I know the boat very very very well and have sailed it scores of thousands of miles. It's a fabulous design and build. I have a whole bunch of drawings for the boat... done in the lock down of corona. I didn't measure anything... because I know some of the basic measurements.... know typical dimensions of interiors being an architect.... and I have scores of photos to refer to... so I draw.. see how it looks... adjust and so on... For sure it's not "precise" but it's close enough for government work. And I am having a great time doing it. Here are the latest drawings/revisions when I figure out how to post them

Hi Sander, sorry took me a while to see your reply...new to Sailnet....

Wow what a coincidence, I'm an architect too (and also live in West Chester but West Chester, PA ;-) )
Would love to talk more, especially with someone so knowledgeable who knows the 36S inside and out.
As I said, I have mine only since 2 years and am still discovering a lot. I am getting her ready though to do some serious ocean sailing (had actually planned to do a shakedown cruise to Bermuda this May but Covid came in the way...) I just looked at all your plans, amazing!!! I'm in the process of getting a spinnaker pole, redoing my solar, figuring out Dinghy Davids, new Bimini & Dodger and your drawings help a lot regarding all those dimensions and design ideas.

you can email me or message me with and I will respond with email or a call. I keep developing these sketches as I have time.... to kill while not being killed by C 16.

There are more.
