This just passed Congress. Seems that several congressmen are avid sailors. Who knew? Actually not surprised that action is being taken. The bill is to dredge the entire ICW to a minimum depth of 10 feet. It's part of an initiative called....

APRIL FOOLS! :)

Congress is too busy approving a huge tax deduction for first time boat buyers.

It would definitely be a shovel-ready project. (Dredge-ready?)

It was my understanding that there actually was (is?) a federal mandate that the ECICW must be kept dredged to a depth of around ten feet.
I have always wondered why BoatUS or some other organization hasn't sued the federal government to get them to comply.
The loss of the ECICW, as a navigable waterway, will be a huge loss to both the commercial and pleasure craft maritime industries.
