Hello all, been getting my "new" boat ready for the trip around from Ft. Myers to Miami and I noticed a bit of a sag from the mast step interior arch...
Has anyone put in a compression post or used any other plan to limit the sag that I've got?
Thanks in advance!

I also have a 1968 Ericson 30' with this sagging mast step issue. I read in one sailing book that these deck stepped masts should have a compression post added, even if it means it will obstruct access forward.

I have the same problem with mine

I am planning a complete restoration of mine this winter and plan on removing the entire deck to recore it. I am planning to add a carbon fiber core under the mast to support the weight and transfer the load to the bulk head and to the hull.
