While winterizing the engine I noticed a new problem with the oil alarm for the first time - It doesn't come on immediately after the engine stops.
I normally expect to see oil light and hear the buzzer whenever the key is in the on position and the engine isn't running. As soon as I start it the alarm goes off, and as soon as I stop it the alarm comes on again.
While winterizing I noticed the alarm would hesitate to come on after the engine stopped - it would take between maybe 5 to 20 seconds. To me this implies oil pressure gauge is marginal and needs to be replaced however I'm still new to sailboats and diesel engines.
Before I dive in and buy a new sensor what do you guys think?
