2009 a bad year?

I just found this Grampian forum, and it would seem 2009 is a bad year for Gramp owners to talk.

Its almost September and there is one post this year.. OUCH.

Well I am not a G26 owner yet, but working on that or a G30.. both I have a chance at getting a crazy good deal.. G26s are a safer bet all around, but the chance to get in on the ground floor with a 30 is enticing.

Does anyone know if you have an older G26 with wooden toe rail, is it not an issue to upgrade it to the metal toerail.. so I could then put on the railmounted stanchions?

Hi Biker,
I don't have a G26, but a good source for grampian parts, including upgrading to the metal toeraild is Holland Marine Products. I've heard its not too hard a job to accomplish.
Cheers
Doubt that that is possible.

It's never been done to my knowledge. The construction methods for affixing the wooden toe rail are totally different from the aluminum rail.
You would be wise to contact one of the people who used to work for Grampian Marine. There are still quite a few of them around in your neighbourhood.
Well, just thought I would post and let people know I am now a Gramp26 owner.

Also looking for some stuff if anyone has upgraded.. or knows of anything available.

1. Furling unit - good working order.. not picky on make.

2. winiches - single speed in the Barlow 16 size range - this boat has original winches.

3. Any Grampian specific stuff.

I would love to find a Dodger or bimini or just frames.. I am looking at fabricating a stern rail.. Anyone know of a boat being de-commisioned for any of the above.

Thanks people.
