Hi, I am loving sailing more and more. It is my #1 goal in life to sail far and long. I live in Honolulu and have had a Cal 20 and Catalina 22. I recently that I bought for 2000 and 3500 respectively. Now I have about 7,000 to spend and am hopoinf to move into the 25-27 foot range. Something that will take me interisland as well.
ANy experienced boatowners have any recommendations? Right now all I've seen listed that is slightly above that price range is a 1979 dufour which looks beautiful and a 27 catalina. But of course more will come available. I'd like to keep this one a bit longer, until I am ready to move on to the bluewater cruiser stage.
Also. I bought my last boats with just a semiexperienced frined and some good(ish) luck. If I spend 7k do I need to get a survey done or anything else to be safe? How much does this cost?
