I have pulled all of my old wiring out of my Islander 30 and am getting ready to replace the teak and holly sole. I have been looking to upgrade my electrical system to the new three wire system that Nigel Calder installed on his new boat. Has anyone heard how this system has worked out for him? Has anyone else used it? Being a former CG electricains mate this system really makes a lot of sense to me and would be far less work to install and troubleshoot.

Any help would be appreciated

I don't know if the new electrical setup on Nigel Calder's new boat would apply to yours, as his new boat is a diesel-electric hybrid, and may have some very different requirements than yours does.

Its not the Hybrid part that I am interested in just the Distribution side. I did some more research yesterday on it and I could get a system for my size boat that would cost around 2000 grand. So this weekend I am going to total every thing up and see what the cost is going to be for me to do it traditionally.
