I would like to replace the raw water pump on my westerbeke 4-107 with a belt driven pump. It is becoming very hard to find a pump no less a spare. Anyone tried this? any suggestions? Can the pump drive simply be blanked off? I have plenty of room and an extra groove on my crankshaft pulley. I thank you in advance.

If you can make a blanking cover for it, yea sure, just put some sealant on (or cut a wee gasket for) the blank cover and bolt it on. Ideally, try to use the existing bolt holes for your new cover. There should be no oil pressure there worthy of the name.... just oil splash to defend.
Send us a wee picture.

Just be careful that your new belt-driven pump does not pump like crazy and tear up the impeller (or whatever it uses).
