I'm in the midst of replacing the blocks and running rigging on my Cal 25 (who'd of thunk the wooden blocks would still be working after 47 years!), and will be replacing the entire boom vang.
Catch is, there is no boom bail attached to the boom. The original vang was connected via heavy duty aluminum clips that attach to the track for the mainsail, and then attach to the vang using canvas straps (which have deteriorated to the point that I no longer trust them).
Has anyone replaced their bail/vang and run across this? I'm looking to replace it with a permanent vang, and could use some peer help before I call in the guys at the sail shops :)

My boom vang is just attached to a small stainless strap screwed to the boom. I did use the riv-nuts? instead of the previous owners sheet metal screws.
