Planning on adding an asymeterical spinnaker to the sail locker on my San Juan 7.7 (26 foot fractional rig) I currently run a symeterical spinnaker but would like to seek advice and opinions about how to best rig and use an asym.

My preference is to use one of the aftermarket bowsprits. I like the Selden, but there are others. Since you already have the turning blocks at the aft end of the boat you don't need anything else, except maybe longer spin sheets.

I have trouble gybing my asymeterical. A forward crane needs to be installed at my mast head to help solve the problem. I have a mast head rig with bow pulpit so not sure how it equates to your fractional rig.

FlyNavy, I'm considering the same thing for my tub. I figure I can run the spin pole downhaul forward, through a block in front of the forestay and use that as an adjustable tack line. Use the spin halyard as, well, the spin halyard and then run the sheets. Outside gybing it should remove any problems around the sail getting stuck between the luff and the forestay, means longer sheets but no biggie and that's a ton cheaper than trying to add a sprit.
I was going to try it out by flying my symm as an asymm, yeah I know, lousy sail shape but just to prove the rigging it will work.

Setting up for outside gybe works fine.

Using the spin pole downhaul as tack line is a good option, if you can make it 1:2 it's even easier to adjust. You will find that having an adjustable tack will make trimming the sail better for different wind angles.

You need a "real" spinnaker halyard above the head stay to avoid the halyard chaffing on the fore stay. On masthead boats is usually a crane at the top of the mast.

I collect pictures of different bowsprit arrangements, this is not a bowsprit but a different approach attaching the tack.
The padeye is secured to the deck using two turnbuckles.
