Correct; just examples.

And like Don said, the goal is to be understood. The point of radio protocol isn't to have stuffy rules to follow, but to keep things short and simple. If you don't eat the mike and allow time so that the start or end of your message isn't cut off you'll probably do just fine.

I think one good practice is to end your transmission by stating you ship's name... and then "OVER"... meaning your message is over.
I notice on TV reporters end their report by saying the name of the anchor... as if it's your turn anchor I''m done.
