Sailed in my youth, and now have the dream of buying a 30' boat here in Hawaii and returning to the sport. Also, desire to live aboard at least part time.

Anyone got any good advice for this newbie? Specifically, what are the biggest pitfalls that can happen when purchasing a boat (this assumes there is a thorough inspection first). Engine issues? Rigging?

Anyone have suggestions for the best type of live aboard? I like the Catalina 30s and maybe CAL 2 30s.

Thanks!

Put your name in for a slip on your Island ASAP. Slips are hard to come by, typically with a 5 years or more wait list.

There are ways to find a slip here, did it for years before my name finally came up for a slip of my own. If there is a way to PM me, can help you out. You can do that on cruisersforum.com if you want to post over there.
