I have an Amplepower 120A 12V alternator burned up.
It looks like it is not adjustable :-(
It used on a Yanmar 4 cyl. 62hp with an external regulator Next Step.
Do you think the Delco 10DN could be a good replacement ?
Thanks in advance.
Well, this was I was thinking about, unfortunately. These are good alts, I use the same high performance builder for my own brand of alts that Ample does. They use only the best of the best components. Balmar and Electromaax are also good as is Mark Grasser DC Power Solutions
That said any alt can wear out, even high performance alternators, especially if placed into hard duty and without the use of temp sensors.
The Ample is based on a 10DN but is very high performance inside. Your average "auto grade" 10DN will NOT hold up the way the Ample did and is in no way even similar in quality. You also won't likely find a Yanmar mount foot on a standard 10DN because the Ample cases are custom made and only "based on" a 10DN.......
