Hi all,

I took off my alternator (61amp 10SI Delco-Remy) to gain access to part of my engine (63 hp Perkins 4.154) and while trying to unscrew the ground bolt, it sheared off! I've tried many things to get it unstuck, and just having no luck (circled in red). Even drilling out the bolt won't work now because I tried to use a drill extractor and that thing broke off too and its too hard to drill through that now :-(

Is there an alternate way to ground off the alternator? Since the bolt just threads into the back casing, can't I just instead ground to one of the 4 bolts on the side that hold the front and back casing together (circled in green)?

Thanks for the help!

Since you have it off, take it into an alternator repair shop. Always good to know one in your neighborhood.
