my wife and I will be heading south from St Augustine next week. we are planning on going down outside and stopping at Cape Canaveral. does anyone have any information on good anchorage in or near Cape Canaveral. also if the weather doesn't look favorable, does anyone have information on anchoring between St Augustine and Cape Canaveral on the inside? if we have to go on the inside we will strictly be going by day which means anchoring in Palm Bay and Titusville prior to Cape Canaveral. we are old and slow and plan on spending a few days on the hook here and there. any information would be greatly appreciated. thank you all and have a great day.

The best (and only) anchorage in Cape Canaveral is just west of the lock in the Banana River. Anchor north or south of the west lock entrance. The north anchorage is better.

As for the Indian River you can anchor anywhere there's sufficient water. Usually beside a bridge. If blowing from the north anchor on the south side and vice versa.

thanks Rick. I remember the Anchorage by the locks being pretty foul with sunken boats, have they cleaned it up?

If you haven't checked out ActiveCaptain, you should. It saved our bacon several times on our delivery round the bend. AC has quite a few anchorages listed in the Canaveral area...
