Best is to find a boat with no bulkhead at one end of the berth, so your feet can hang off, as necessary. If you are new at this, I will point out that your feet typically go down by the pointy end of a v-berth when there are two occupants. Alone, it's comfortable to be the other way around.

On some boats, the salon settee is the most comfortable sleeping space. Particularly, if it extends into a larger berth.
