Had a hose split last night. I was working on it, and it split between the two hose clamps. I want the best water hose I can get, as the run is very short <3' the diameter is 5/8". What is the best?
You may regret ditching the big strainer when you pull a jellies into that dinky thing. Even the standard tiny vegetative flotsom will clog that small screen in no time. Better to have a big honking strainer. When I just took the old one off, thats what it had, however rusted the wire was now.
The hose then went into a big basket strainer, may I change that to something like this?:

Because the intake is so close to the surface of the water, I need to save space before it goes into the march pump I am using for cooling, also below the water.
I looked around a bit more, and found this one.You may regret ditching the big strainer when you pull a jellies into that dinky thing. Even the standard tiny vegetative flotsom will clog that small screen in no time. Better to have a big honking strainer.
IMHO, the bigger the better, particularly for an expensive device that has no "run dry" capability like a diesel genset. It's a PITA, but just a PITA, to have to frequently clear a strainer feeding something like a diaphragm pump for a water cooled fridge compressor which doesn't draw that much water but that won't die if starved. A genset will draw a lot of water, increasing the PITA factor with a small strainer, with expensive repairs to follow if/when it can't get enough.I looked around a bit more, and found this one.

Any better in your opinion? Still small, but not overly so.
going to order this:Do you have good temperature alarms on the generator to warn you of problems?
No. They are designed to be mounted upright. Can I use a large strainer on its side?
