It would help if you said what your sails were made of. If they are dacron/polyester using a mild cleaner like Oxy-Clean should work.

Make sure you use a soap, and not a detergent. Most detergents, especially laundry detergents are fairly harsh and can damage the coatings that are used to stiffen sailcloth.
