I have been using a laptop along with a garmin 76s and blue chart MapSource software for nav aid. I recently updated my blue chart mapsource software to ver 6.15.6. Somewhere around ver 11 they stop real time tracking (which means it no longer show your position on the map). There was a free download for a software package called Nroute that was supposed to fix that problem. However, that is not available any longer. I can always go back to ver 5 but I am looking for a better solution. If anyone has run into this problem and has a solution I could use your help.
Thanks

I feel your pain. The only thing I've been able to use is nRoute and I downcovert my maps (using utilities available online) to be able to use it.

Total pain, but gotta love garmin's marketing folks for messing this up.

nRoute Download

My 7.5v of Bluechart came without nRoute. I've always thought that the non-tracking ability in MapSource was a downfall and didn't know about nRoute until reading about it here...now it's been discontinued by Garmin. I just found it at gawisp.com/perry/nroute/. Loaded but untried...next time I'm at the boat...

nRoute works very well but I find it frustrating that one does not have tracking within BlueChart any longer. Garmin has perfected the art of developing good products but then supporting them for only a short period forcing people to purchase updated products relatively frequently. I have stopped doing that at this point and simply regard the Garmin charting materials as overviews. For detail one can use Garmin GPS position data with a number of the relatively low-cost programs that can utalize the free charts that can be down-loaded from the Web.

FWIW...
