I''m having a 40ft Beneteau deliverd to the Ft Laurderdale area, and then shipping it to Seattle. Can anyone recomend a yard that will help with unstepping the mast and puting it on the truck but let the owner do alot of the work.
Cracker Boys in Ft. Pierce right at the inlet is a good yard for this. All work other than lift work is contracted or DIY! They are VERY busy hauling boats and putting in and tide may be an issue...4.5 low...6.5 high. So you need to make a reservation for a specific day and time to go in there.I draw 6' and had no problem and great service.
Okay amtes,..I have arrived in Floriuda from Stamford, Conn..and by the hair on my chinny chin,..chin.. Storm after strom.
I am in search of a boatyard to haul out and REPAINT the hull. I am toooo tall to get under bridges in the ICWW...at 69'..
Need a boatyard accessable from offshore that a guy can get a good job on the cheap!!!?? any thoughts??

If you insist on DIY in Fort Lauderdale...then YOUR only option is Playboy Marine. There is another "new" yard that is DIY that opened up west of the I-95 bridge, but they are behind a 55' fixed bridge, so no workey for you.
While not DIY, there is a yard offering a pretty good price on bottom jobs right now. Cable Marine. Look at their advertisement on the bottom of the tide tables page in Waterfront News. 10% back on your total bill to Boat Owners Warehouse (great place).
You'll probably have to do the work at Cable Marine East...their main location is also west of the I-95 bridge (remember...55 feet). Cable Marine East has a 40 Ton Lift, so it should be good for anything sail related
Salerno marine in Port Salerno is a pretty good DIY place. The depth can be tricky getting in so you have to go in at high tide if you have more than 4 or so feet of draft. Its a bit north of lauderdale but south of ft pierce.
Personally I would wait until Ida wanders off before going north but I am a wimp and have no desire to post in the BFS threads.
