We are getting prepped for retirement and 6 months on 6 months off and back on land. i love Kindle for reading but I want real books for the boat for the important stuff.

Which books do you folks recommend for knots, boat maintenance, diesel repair..?

Any and all topics that you feel a cruiser should have on hand.

Thanks
Carlton

You are in luck! We have an entire forum devoted to books:

For knots, I find any book in which the examples use two different color lines to be the easiest. And, as a kayaker, I found that knot books written for kayakers and canoeists to be best for learning how to tie the knots. Brion Toss's Riggers Apprentice books (current edition in one volume) are great reading.

Two books that I can highly recommend are "Unbroken" and "American Sniper" both of which I have read twice. They are true stories about true American heroes. Both are available from Amazon.com

I thought he was referring to books on boat maintenance.
