We need a new bow pulpit for our 1983 H340....dont ask. I've been trying to find a price but I've been having no luck. I did give Hunter marine a call but they havent gotten back to me yet. Does anyone have any ideas or helpful hints??
Don't see where you are, but generally in any boating area there are companies that specialize in building SS railing, pulpits, davits etc. If Hunter doesn't come through for you, then start looking at those guys.
This is always custom work, so if there were things you didn't like about the old one you can have the new one made to suit (eg a teak slatted seat up front!)
I have a friend here on the wharf in Portland where I keep my boat who is an artist of a welder. His prices are very reasonable and he has built or repaired pulpits for some very expensive yachts.
Email me and I'll tell you how to get in touch with him. You can see the tank he built me by poking around the last years project pages of my web site.
Some stupid rule on this forum won't let me post a link until I've made two posts so I can't give you a link to my site. Do a Google Search for "Roger Long Marine Architecture" and you'll find me on the first page. Then click "Roger Long", then "Sailing Vessel Strider", the ""2007 Winter Projects" and look for the section on fuel tanks. You'll also see a Contact link on the first page where you can find my email.
He is doing some welding for a project I'm working on now and could use some more work when he's done with that in a couple weeks.
We had good luck with a mobile SS welder who straightened out our pulpit, and fixed welds on it and our stern ladder. There are probably some near you who have good reputations with the local yards, and who could have the job done in a couple of days at a reasonable price. (Especially compared to buying a new one and having it shipped from CA.)
I replaced mine about 1 year ago and used White Water Marine, Port Huron, MI. White Water Marine . Very pleased, great job and less than half the price of anyone local. I used Fed X ground service and shipped the old one in 2 pieces as requested by White Water. It looks great and fit perfect. I found the ad in the back of Good Old Boat magazine.
