Was wondering if anyone was able to use bronze ball Y valve 1-1/2 typically used for plumbing but in a waste system on a boat. The cost is the same for about $65 you can get either Jabsco Y valve or you can get an all bronze Apollo (Apollo 70-600 Series Bronze Ball Valve, Two Piece, 3-Port Diverting, Lever, 1-1/2" NPT Female: Bathtub And Shower Diverter Valves: Amazon.com: Industrial & [email protected]@[email protected]@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/[email protected]@[email protected]@51KZnqlfMTL)

Thanks

the Y valve is full port and most three way bronze valves are reduced size ports which could cause a restriction. the Y valve is the same as 45 degree elbow when it comes to flow restriction. the diverter valve is the same as a 90 degree elbow which is more the twice the flow restriction of a 45 elbow. two 45 elbows is less restriction the one 90 elbow when it comes to flow. Plumbing 101
the Jabsco valve is lockable which is required by the CG if it goes to a thru hull

if you have a through hull seacock that is lockable then the diverter is not bad but i think you may want to size up to ease any flow restriction
