My wife, four-year-old daughter and I have decided that a Catalina 42 looks like our best bet for a coastal cruising live aboard.

We love the 2 cabin set-up with the extra port storage and extra room inside overall, but we are planning to bring an au pair onboard at some point and will miss the third cabin.

My idea is to build a bunk in the forward head for our daughter if there is enough width available. We can make do with the just the one aft head and it'll save on maintenance too.

I was wondering if anyone knew the width measurement in the forward head near the bulkhead above the counters? ... or a have better idea. :)
