Hi I own a 1971 Cal 39' . I think its time to replace the keel bolts. I was told the keel is mounted to the bottom of the hull with kind of a " I beam " and you can actually remove the nuts from the inside of the boat one at a time and with a sledge hammer drive the bolt down through and it will break through the fairing from underneath and you can replace them one at a time then refair back over them once you have done them all. A guy who said he owned a 1971 cal 39 told me this was how he replaced his. Any info would greatly help I cant find any info on this at all on the web.
thanks,
Ryan

I have a 1973 Cal T4 and I am pretty sure that the Keel Bolts have never been replaced. I have taken up the floor and looked at the bolts and they look OK to me. I am having her hauled out in June to have the bottom painted; do I need to replace the keel bolts at that time?
