I''m about to recalk joint between the teak toe rail and fiberglass deck. I used 3m 4200 last time but did''nt like the finish too much, my inexperience probably, anyhow I don''t like the messiness of calking at all, so would appreciate any wisdom on which calk to use for the best long term results. A friend says PL silicone for windows/sidings is real tough, is there really a lot of rocket science to this subject?

Isn''t 4200 that fast-drying version of 5200? Nasty stuff. I''d use boat-life or something a little less grabby and easier to clean up. Only use that stuff on things you are unlikely to ever want to take apart.
