Thread migrated from 2015 sailing season.

2015 Sailnet Rendezvous Cambridge MD Saturday July 25 - Sunday July 26

Cambridge Municipal Marina has transient slips at $1.50/ft, electric extra.
We may get a discount for 10 or more so the more the merrier.

Jim-W keeps his boat at the Municipal Marina and knows the area including bars.

Gary "Travlineasy" will be our entertainment

SV Auspicious will be there.

The ice is melting, summer is almost here.

I will call the dockmaster tomorrow for additional information including dinghy dock and facilities available for dinghy dock users.

I can't commit yet. I have that weekend open, but the adjoining days (3 days down, 3 days back) may be an issue.

But still it's fun to plan and hope. Colin - how about Selby Bay for a Day 2 stopoff? A little shorter run than to Rhode River, but still good shooting distance to Cambridge on Day 3. Wow, that's 26 hours of sailing @ 5 knots!

FYI, last October we stayed in Rhode River between Big Island and High Island. It was beautiful and very well protected, but it did take a long time to get in there. Selby Bay might be quicker getting out to head south the next morning.

We really like the Rhode and West Rivers, but the common anchorages are a good ways from the Bay. I've anchored in 8 to 10 feet just South of the mouth of Scaffold Cr. My boat is heavier than yours - it might not be so comfortable for you. Regardless the crab pots at the West/Rhode mouth are a minefield.

Paul, if I were you, I would think about sailing down to Rock Hall and spend the night anchored there. Just one more day to Cambridge.
It's a long way up inside the shoal unless your draft allows you to take the short cut by the range marks at the North end.

Waiting for a response on dinghy dock from the Dockmaster.

From Google Earth there appears to be a dinghy dock alongside the Yacht Club building.

I may take (3) 10 hour days, or (4) 8 hour days, or some combination. After 10 hours in the summer sun even under a bimini I am done for the day.

So probably an early morning departure from Essington on Tuesday July 21 on the ebb, wait at Delaware City for a few hours then through the C&D to Chesapeake City if I am ready for a cold beer, or anchor in the Bohemia.

If I decide on 4 days the next destination will be Rock Hall, if 3 days south of Annapolis.

Anchorage of Scaffold Cr looks ideal for the next leg to Cambridge but a bit exposed, so depending on weather I may go further into Rhodes or down to Galesville.

Jim-W do you know if the marina pavilion is available for events like the rendezvous, I will check with the dockmaster but another opinion is always good to have.

I would say it is available as it is never used unless there is an event going on its not very big I'm guessing maybe 30 people will fit. I will be more help towards the end of the month once I'm back in the water I should be there every Friday thru Sunday. The whole marina is surrounded by a large floating pier and there is room for a couple thousand dinghies but I don't know if there is a fee. There is also a free bulkhead(marked on Active Captain) that is first come for serve inside Cambridge creek just to the SW of Snappers restaurant.

Thanks Jim

Unless folks want to express interest in the rendezvous 4 months in advance, or have new information, the thread may go quiet for a few weeks.

Numbers are building.

I am playing phone tag with the dockmaster at the moment, my fault my phone was off all morning, but plenty of slips available.

Rapp, will you be there, I would like to know what you worked out for sailing Rehoboth Bay?

Talked with dockmaster.

By end of June he requested we have a roster of boats needing slips; name, length, beam, draft, contact information, estimated day/time of arrival.

The floating breakwater as Jim mentioned is a free dinghy dock.

So as folks firm up plans send me by PM or in this thread information for the dockmaster.

If coming by road, plenty of parking available.

Pendragon
A long day sail from Baltimore or two days with a break in the West or Rhode rivers.

I was checking Greyhound if I need to return to Philadelphia on Monday. The Greyhound from Cambridge to Philadelphia has a transfer in Baltimore.
