Can anyone give me a suggestion as to what the best brand of dingy davits is for a canoe stern? I have a nauticat 33. Thanks in advance.

Standard Kato or Garhauer folding lawn chair davits will do. Won't look great.

Thank you. Im looking at kato I was hoping there was one i didnt have to fend off the stern while raising and had more eye appeal.

I have them having off the stern, but let's admit, no dinghy looks good on the back of a sailboat. They're just practical.

Unless you install something that has a long arm, and therefore a lot of undesired leverage, fending is a part of raising and lower most dinks. Kato does make a set of boxed aluminum davits that look much nicer that SS pipe.

The davits came with the boat and goes back 2 owners to the original in '99 so I have no idea who made them. The pictures are just for ideas. And yes, they are ugly and add 5' to LOA. I have a 43' slip and I use the whole thing between the sprit and davits/dingy.

Thank you for your help. I just ordered a set of kato davits looks like they will work fine and made for nc33 stern

I don't think those davits are ugly. Well, no uglier than most anyway. I don't think the eye processes the davits as an aesthetic element.

not to jack your thread but Does any one thing they can be made out of wood? or some other material. i would like davits but i'm not going to pay that price.
