I have a 1975 Capri Cyclone. The centerboard is getting very hard to pull up/push down. Any suggestions how that can be fixed? Also where would i get a replacement inspection hatch cover. Mine is falling upart. Any suggestions?

I had a Cyclone. THe problem with the dagger board is most likely due to water getting into the fiberglass shell and swelling it up. I dont know where to find a replacement, but I imagine you could get one made. Its not too complicated of a piece of equipment.

Re: the hatch, just have a piece of teak cut to the same dimensions.

That's one hell of a fun boat.

I think those springs are essential to your ability to keep the daggerboard in a less than fully lowered position. Also, I imagine it would beat the hell out of the daggerboard bouncing around as you tacked without the support of those springs. Not advisable.

There might be another one that might work, but probably not. Take the one you have to your local boat repair shop. They can probably give you an estimate. They might also be able to dry out and patch the one you have.
