Catalina 22 as 1''''st boat?

I''m looking at a Catalina 22 with swing keel as my first boat. Does anyone have any input as to how good it is and how well it sails? I''m also considering a CS 22, also a swing keel. Some people in my club are trying to get me to buy a fixed keel, saying they sail better and are more stable. Is this true?

Catalina 22 as 1''''st boat?

My first boat was a ''22 Catalina swing keel. Perfect for lake sailing. Sailed great and never gave me a bit of problems. Only reason for sale was when I purchased a larger boat!
