Its a great area to sail. A lot of people make Punta Gorda or Burnt Store area their home base and set out from there. Its skinny waters, so be careful and make sure your tow insurance is up to date

Not specifically Charlotte Harbor, but almost out of the area is Cabbage Key. There's a restaurant on Cabbage Key that had dollar bills hanging from the ceiling all over. Its reportedly the place Jimmy Buffet referred to for Cheeseburger in Paradise.
