We are chartering a 32 ETAP for a couple of days in Dec & wrapping a few more days around the sailing as a vacation in a couple of months. We are not familiar w/ the area & are looking for info on the sailing, restaurants, hotels & must sees. Any advice would be much appreciated.
With only a 4'-8" draft, the ETAP 32 is a good boat for exploring the area. Unfortunately, however, only a "few days" won't give you much time to cover very much of the area. Some interesting and relatively nearby stops would be the Village of Boca Grande on the north side of the Boca Grande pass; Pelican Bay, just south of Boca Grande pass, the previously mentioned Cabbage Key, just west of Useppa Island off the ICW, that has a funky but reasonably good restaurant, South Seas Plantation on the south side of Redfish Pass and 'Tween Waters in Roosevelt Channel, between Buck Key and Captiva Island. It would be worth you clicking over to ActiveCaptain.com, registering (for free), and using the interactive charts for the area to view these locations, worthwhile information and comments/information provided by other cruisers. You'll be glad you do.

Some of the hotels we've stayed at and enjoyed are South Seas Plantation (which also has a good marina) on Captiva, the Sanibel Harbor Resort at Punta Rassa in south Ft. Myers just north of the bridge to Sanibel Island, and the Weston Cape Coral Resort at the Tarpon Point Marina on the north side of the Caloosahatchie River in Cape Coral. All very good/enjoyable but not inexpensive.

FWIW...
