I have removed my non working chart plotter and radar. I am ready to buy new. I am really looking at the Garmin 4208 or 4210 with the 4k digital radar. The price difference is not much. The island Packet 31 is not very big. I am used to a smaller screen and I am concerned that at night the screen will be too big and bright. The only thing I want to add to the chart plotter is the radar, GPS and depth so dont need the network splitter. Any thoughts and suggestions? Its alot of money to just have to live with a problem.

what does not work on the system? if the plotter end works i can think of a good home for it. heck if it does not work i would be willing to try fix it. i dont need or want the radar end

The new gen chartplotters are very, very good. You'll like the Garmin, I think. As far as size....I have the 4212 (12" screen) and love the size.

Get the HD radar option.

I just got the 4210 with HD radar on my Caliber 33. It is an amazingly good system. It is light years ahead of all the previous chart plotters I have seen and the HD radar is incredible. I wouldnt want a bigger unit given the size of my cockpit but the 8 inch screen really is a lot smaller.
