Can you recommend any story books with a sailing theme that are written to the 7-8 year old? I'm not particularly interested in pirate stories, but adventure stories like "Riddle in the Sands", but at the 3rd or 4th grade level.
Thanks,
John

Pippi Longstocking's dad is a sea captain and she is supposed to be expert crew having lived on his boat and sailed with her dad. Not sure how much sailing goes on in the books. My daughter is only three, so we're mostly into books with pictures at this point. But I remember enjoying the disney tv adaptation when I was a kid.

I'm with Triumphant. The whole Arthur Ransome Swallows and Amazons series makes great reading for children. I can't remember how many times I read them all. My favorite was "We didn't mean to go to sea'.
