I have searched on here several times to try and find what people are using in their cockpit for seating comfort. I really don't just want cushions and would rather havd a seat with a back on it and portable to throw in the cabin when gone or use it other places around the boat (or even off the boat). I have seen the Go Anywhere seats but curious if they would just slip or slide around too much on the fiberglass benches in the cockpit.

We have our seat cushions plus a small thermarest inflatable pillow for our backs. The thermarest doubles as our pillow for sleeping. We've looked at "seats" but decided they take up too much room.

The only catch with the thermarest pillow is that occasionally they fall overboard, but fortunately they float.

We use beach mats with an adjustable backrest. Cheap to buy, fold up in their own small carry bag and stay put because you sit on the floor part....

The only "mod" required to make them cockpit safe is to run some tape around the bottom of the frame to stop it marking the cockpit coaming if it rests up against it.

+1 for Sport-A-Seat. Much better made than the WM knock off version.

We've had ours for years.

You can stop them from sliding by placing a piece of non-slip matting beneath the seats, the kind of matting that is used for small rugs in your home.

Gary
That was going to be my next question.

I think I need to go on Shark Tank and invent a perfect boating seat with a nice adjustable backrest, drink holder, non slip surface and a seatbelt (when you just can't stop drinking Corona's).....anchored of course!

We use these on top of the regular cushions . Mainly when were at the dock , we also use them when sailing on a clam day .

I've had a couple of these for quite a few years. I can't believe how well they have held up. They almost look new.
The picture shows someone just sitting on one which is ok, but they do much better if they are leaning up against something. Much better support that way (unless you have a really big butt to weight it down)

I think I will get one of these though! I don't need to go on Shark Tank I guess...:(
These seem like a good idea until you pick one up !

Man those suckers are bulky, couldn't imagine storing two of them down below.

The nice thing about the sport-a-seat is it lays flat for storage in a berth.
