At the risk of being hypocritical after the PFD thread (and i always wear a PFD), I would like to hear some improbable /rare survival stories of people surviving in the water for improbably long periods with minimal/no support. Do you know of any?

I'll contribute 3 form my areas:
1. Two girls survive being blown out into Georgian Bay for two days

2. 40 yr old woman drifts 24 km in Georgia strait in 8 hours after faling off sailboat, no PFD
B.C. woman who survived ordeal at sea released from hospital

3. Man falls off BC ferry, also in Georgia strait, and survives 8 hours, no PFD

do you have some others from your areas? love to hear 'em.

Being from Texas and living on the Gulf coast, I have a simple rule - never sail where it's cold. Down here the best sailing is in the winter, when it's in the 70's and the winds are stronger, but the water is never really cold enough to give concern.
Come on down!!
