It's a little late for a reply but when I did mine in a columbia29 I think I used a lewmar size0 but I'm not 100% sure.

It was not too hard but I had to expand the hole a little bit because the new porlight was a tad bigger.
There was no cabin side core, just the fiberglass and liner so I felt compelled to build a wooden ring that follows the dimensions of the porlight inside the cabin to act as a reinforcing plate when I open and close the port and also so that the supplied screws fit properly.
I felt the supplied white plastic liner was ugly and useless so I dumped it.
